[31 May, 2009 Qinghao] In light of the uncertainties in the global economic trends, the China Logistics and Warehousing Association organized its annual forum with a theme on the strategic direction for the industry under financial crisis. The interactive forum covers topics such as change, strategic re-positioning, efficiency enhancement, and logistics cost reduction. An expert from BPS Global Group, Dr. Wang Yaowen , General Manager, Micro Logistics Consultancy, Hong Kong Logistics Technology and Systems Company Limited, was invited to deliver the first speech at the forum.
Dr. Wang spoke on the present state of logistics in foreign countries under financially volatile circumstances. He first looked at the situation from the global economic perspective, analysing the contingencies taken by international logistics operators, including focusing on the core business, re-structuring of the personnel, organization and salary framework, operation optimization, market bundling sales, etc. At the same time, he introduced some real cases from the industry, for example, third party logistics, sea and air freight forwarding services, express delivery, air transport, freight stations, international enterprises, etc. to discuss how to improve competitiveness to survive through unfavourable circumstances.
The two-day forum attracted an attendance of over 60 industrial experts and leaders of the logistics and warehousing sector, of which 15 of them spoke at the forum. To provide participants with an opportunity to learn from what their counterparts are up to, the Association also arranged a site visit to the International Logistics Center in Qingdao’s Haier Development Zone to look at their automatic storage/retrieval system, as well as another visit to the Qingdao Bonded Logistics Park during the event.
